TOPIC 4 :GETTING KNOW THE CAMPUS
TOPIC 5 : MEMORY LEARNING AND IMPROVING CONCENTRATION
- Memory VS Brain!!!
As we can see, just focus in the lecturer classes is not enough so we need to do a lot of things to improve the way we study change our mindset.
- MEMORY VS BRAIN.
1. Memory is an individual's ability to store, retain and remember information and experience. (Computer Software)
2. The Brain is the organ. (Computer Hardware)
- RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BRAIN AND MEMORY.
- Analogy like a computer
Give examples of the components that exist on a computer and what are the components of the computer that seem to exist in humans?
MEMORY
The human memory system is divided into three types: sensory memory, short-term memory and long-term memory.
- Sensory Memory (SM)
- Memory pertaining to storage of temporary information carried by senses (5 senses).
- Temporary.
- Note that the information will be processed into Short-term Memory (STM).
- If you do not pay attention to the information it will be lost immediately.
- Short-term Memory (STM)
- STM is a process that allows information to be received and stored within a short period of between 30 seconds to 24 hours. Memory from SM.
- This happens because the limitation of storing information is limited. Some of the information in the short-term memory system will enter the long-term memory system if it is given focus and repetition.
- Information stored in short-term memory will disappear easily.
- Long-term Memory (LTM)
- LTM means the memory of an information over a long periot.
- In fact, every information stored in this system is permanant until the end of a person life, but depending on the person's ability to 'reconnect' the information from the memory .
- Recall
- The disadvantage to "call back" the information stored in long-term memory is synonymous with the "FORGET" word.
- The genius and the remarkable memory are those who are capable of 'calling back' the information stored in long-term memory system. If you want to be a genius, brain potentials need to be strengthened by stimulating, training, burying, maintaining and invigorating the brain though modern and traditional methods.
ACTIVITY 2
Try to memorize the numbers for 10 minutes, then list all these number in the original order.
- MEMORY
- The ability of the brain can be enchanced by its various stimuli, recommendations, nutrition, excercise, training and practice.Spiritual practices including prayer, worship and taqwaa can nourish and activate our brain cells.
- Food supplied with nutritious, balanced and scheduled exercise contribute to the healt of the body and affect mental health.
- Forget And Remember
1. Reason for being forgetful
-Disturbed
-Lack of concentration
-Time factor
2. We will be easy to remember something if it was our:
-Interest
-Options
-Examinations
Brain is divided into two parts namely left and right. Two parts play an important role in our lives.
- Strategies Of Improving Concentration
1. use motivational and organizational strategies
2. Create a positive learning environment
3. Deal with internal distractions
4. Use active learning strategies
5. Match your learning style to the task
6. Monitor your concentration
What I can say is that every human being has its own advantages and disadvantages.Do not imitate the way of other people study while hoping that you have studied in the right way.
TOPIC 6 : TAKING LECTURE NOTES
- What is note taking?
-writing down ideas from lectures and readings in our own words.
- How Do We Take Note?
1. Date and label notes.
2. Give ourselves space to write.
3. Use abbreviations and symbols
4. Use an outline to show:
- Main ideas
- Supports
- Examples
5. Use our own language.
- Why review notes?
- We lose 80% of what we hear if it is not reviewed within a few hours.
- Identify any questions for peers, the next class,or ask the professor.
- There is not enough me to absorb all the information even in class if it's not reviewed on a regular basic.
- Think : "If I were tested on this lecture tomorrow would I ace it?" make it so!
- Take Time Everyday To Review notes.
- How Do We Review After A Class?
1. Review notes alone with the book.
2. Create our own examples.
3. Discuss and compare notes with others.
4. Re-write notes.
5. Practice those skills you wish to develop.
6. Ask professor for clarification.
How many points did you get? Mine, 7/10 😅
